A book titled “Lighted Windows” on Best Practices or good governance initiatives was launched by Shri N. Ravi Shanker, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) here today. Compiled by DARPG, book consists of select good governance initiatives from all over the country.
While releasing the book, the Secretary, Shri Shanker said that the Administrative reforms and innovations in governance are hallmarks of progressive public service in any country. Innovations in governance are akin to improvements within the existing system that emerge from the dynamism of an individual or a group of civil servants or the organisation at various levels.
Sh.Shanker said that the experiences covered in the book in identified fields can be replicated in other parts of the country. The issues of taxation, land acquisition and record management, sugarcane information system, rural management and development of Hill States, educational initiatives in LWE affected areas are some of the issues concerned for the growth and development of the country. The book compiled by the Department has beautifully depicted these experiences to be carried forward to the people through the media, training and education institutes and national and state libraries, he added.
DARPG has been bringing out books as compilation of articles on select best practices and making them available in the open market through renowned publishers. Some of the books published, so far, are Ideas that have Worked, Learn from Them, Splendour in the Grass, Roofless Towers, In Search of Light, People First, Some Gems Some Pearls and Thinking Out of the Box. Such initiatives are implemented across the country by individuals, and a group of individuals and organisations for creating a better public service paradigm.
