Central Pool of MBBS/BDS/PG Medical/MDS Seats - Health Ministry Clarification

CENTRAL POOL SEATS - CLARIFICATION

Ministry of Health & FW is maintaining a Central Pool of MBBS/BDS/PG Medical/MDS seats, in which the seats are contributed by the States/UTs having Medical Colleges and some other Institutions like Banaras Hindu University, AIIMS, Christian Medical College Vellore, St. John College Bangalore, MG IMS Wardha e.t.c.

The seats so received are allocated to States/UTs having no medical colleges (particularly NE States except Assam), J&K, UTs of Andaman & Nicobar, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and some Government Departments like Ministry of Cabinet Secretariat (for children of deceased/disabled/ex-service man/security personnel of SSF, RAW e.t.c), Ministry of Home Affairs (for children of deceased/ disabled/ex-service man/security personnel of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, Assam Rifles e.t.c), Ministry of External Affairs (for fulfilment of bilateral ties with friendly foreign nations), Indian council of child welfare (for National award winners) and Civil Terrorist victims. PG Medical seats are for foreign nationals to fulfil bilateral commitments of Govt. of India with friendly foreign nations and PG Dental seats are for in-service doctors of NE states (except Assam).

Ministry of Health & FW does not directly allocate any MBBS/BDS/PG seat to any individual. The selection of students on the aforesaid seats allocated to beneficiaries are done by the concerned beneficiary in accordance with the broad criteria laid down by this Ministry and the priorities and other sub rules made by beneficiary stake holders.

Hon’ble Minister of Health & FW is not maintaining any DISCRETION QUOTA for the allocation any MBBS/BDS/PG seat to any individual.
